Neal

Guy and Nora Lois Neal celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on March 29 at Perkins Restaurant. The couple were married on March 25, 1943, in McAlester, Okla. Guy and Nora Lois are longtime residents of Lawrence. Guy attended Haskell Indian Nations University from 1937-1940 when he entered the Army with the Haskell unit. He was awarded the rank of Battlefield Commission. After World War II, he attended and graduated from Panhandle A&M College, Okla., in 1950. Guy worked for Williams Natural Gas Pipeline in Lawrence. He retired in 1982 as the district superintendent. They have five children: Dwayne and Kate Neal, Olathe; Dayna Hunter, Olathe; Patty Lancaster, Augusta; Janice and Joe Toth, Kansas City, Mo.; and James and Deena Neal, Rawlins, Wyo. They have 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence F. (Larry) and Barbara Swinson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 20 at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Lawrence. Friends are invited. Larry Swinson and Barbara Johnson were married in Cunningham on Feb. 2, 1958. Both are graduates of Kansas University. They lived in Pratt during the first years of their marriage, and they owned an auto dealership there. In 1984, they moved to Lawrence, where Larry has been employed in investments. They have been active members of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Larry has been involved in the civic and business communities of Lawrence. They have two children: Tim and Beth Ann Swinson, Chicago; and Cinda and Ken Green, Natchitoches, La. They have four grandchildren.

Everett and Helen Louise Cox will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today with a family dinner. Everett W. Cox and Helen Louise Rodgers were married on April 11, 1948, in Osawatomie. Louise was a homemaker and also ran E & L Trailer Rental, which the couple owned for many years. Everett was a tire builder for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He retired in 1990 after 33 years. They lived in Lawrence from 1957 until 2004. They have three children: Everett L. Cox and P.J., Garnett; Steven Cox, Ottawa; and Tina and Robert Guzik, Drums, Pa. They have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The couple reside in Ottawa. They request no gifts.

Armstrong and Ruby May Heffner were married April 20, 1958, at the Worden EUB Church. Theirs was the first marriage ceremony performed by the Rev. Abe. L. Klassen. Richard was a farmer, worked at a print shop and delivered office furniture. Ruby was a legal secretary and homemaker. Both are retired. The couple has two children, Rheta M. and Kevin L. Becker, Olathe, and Richard A. Jr. and Susan Armstrong, Neosho, Mo., and seven grandchildren, Lance, Grant and Blake Becker, and Cassandra, Shayla, Roman and Elizabeth Armstrong.
