Benny and Jeanne Dean, Eudora, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Eudora. They were married Sept. 26, 1957, in Eudora. Their children are Pennie Neff, Olathe, and Melanie Nelson, Topeka. They have three grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.
Robert and Ellen Hess, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30 at Maceli's. Robert Hess and Ellen McVey were married Oct. 5, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. The couple have lived in Lawrence for 49 years. Bob and Ellen have owned and operated Bob's Bernina Sewing and Vacuum Center for 27 years. Their children are Michael Hess and wife Kathleen, Overland Park, and Mark Hess, Lawrence. They have one granddaughter. The couple request no gifts.
Schultz and Orloff
Brian and Sabiene Orloff, Shawnee, announce the engagement of their daughter, Denise Orloff, to Brent Schultz, son of Max and Renae Cowley, all of Baldwin City. The future bride graduated from Baldwin High School in 2006. She is pursuing a degree in nursing at Kansas University and plans to graduate in 2010. She is employed as a certified nursing assistant at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community. The future groom graduated from Baldwin High School in 2003. He is pursuing a political science degree at Kansas University and plans to graduate in 2008. The couple plan an August 2008 wedding at the Overland Park Marriott.
Zimmerman and Sergeant
Bruce and Julie Sergeant, Lecompton, and William and Patricia Zimmerman, Perry, announce the engagement of their children, Haley Renee Sergeant, Lecompton, and David Joseph Zimmerman, Perry. Rhonda Wrzenski and Bruce Anderson, both of Baldwin City, announce their engagement. The bride-to-be is the daughter of LaVern Wrzenski, Fullerton, Neb., and the late Louise Wrzenski. She graduated from Wolbach Public School in 1999 and received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and media production from Hastings College in 2003. She received a Master of Arts in political science from Louisiana State University in 2005 and is pursuing a doctorate at LSU. She is employed as an adjunct instructor at Baker University. The future groom is the son of Virginia D. Anderson, Rollinsville, Colo., and the late Daniel E. Anderson. He received a Master of Arts and a doctorate from Rice University in Houston. He is associate professor of political science at Baker University. The couple plan an Oct. 13, 2007, wedding in Key West, Fla.

The bride is the daughter of Joe and Patty Baker, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Steve and Debbie Rosel, Topeka. Matrons of honor were Jennifer Baker-Powers and Mackenzie Robbins. Best man was Jeremy Robbins. Bridesmaids were Angela Rosel, Deidre Rosel, Mary Litvan, Jennifer McInroy, Jill Hoffman, Abby Schulte and Cali Borland. A reception and dinner were given at Abe & Jake's Landing. Music was provided by the Arcata String Quartet for the cocktail hour, and Scott Simpson provided music for the remainder of the evening. Kimberly received a degree in women's studies from Kansas University in 2004. Paul received a degree in human biology from KU in 2002 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2007. He plans to work for Dr. Richard Briscoe in Hutchinson, where the couple reside.

She received a Bachelor of Science in business administration and accounting from Kansas University in 2003. She is employed as an auditor at the Kansas Department of Revenue. Jason is a 1996 graduate of Hutchinson High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and American studies in 2000, and a juris doctorate in 2004, both from KU. He is employed as assistant revisor in the Kansas Office of the Revisor of Statutes.
