Herder and Cornelius
Steven and Jeannie Cornelius, Topeka, and Dale and Denise Herder, Burlington, announce the engagement of their children, Jennifer Jean Cornelius and Brian Lane Herder, both of Lawrence. The future bride graduated from Washburn Rural High School and received a bachelor's degree in sociology from Kansas University. She is pursuing a master's degree in criminal justice at Washburn University. The future groom graduated from Burlington High School and received a bachelor's degree in humanities from KU. He is completing post-graduate courses in education at Washburn University. The couple plan a Dec. 15, 2007, wedding at Danforth Chapel, Kansas University.
Glenn and Rosella Beers, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner for immediate family and then a trip to Texas. Glenn Beers and Rosella House were married April 20, 1947, in Lawrence. Glenn was a sheet metal worker for Scott Temperature and then Norris Brothers. He retired in 1984. Rosella is a homemaker. Their children are Linda and Gary Stanwix, Lawrence, and Marsha and Dan Farrier, Texas. They have four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Don and Beverly Barnhart, Lawrence, will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 at the Lawrence Visitor Information Center, North Second and Locust streets. Don Barnhart and Beverly Trendel were married April 21, 1962, at Michigan Valley Methodist Church in Michigan Valley, Kan. Don worked in highway maintenance for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Lawrence, and at Kennedy Glass for 10 years. Beverly has worked at Kennedy Glass for 30 years. Their children are Raymond Barnhart, Lawrence, and Dona Higgins, Lecompton. They have two grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.
George and Aileen Hartpence, Lawrence, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 22 at the home of their son, Douglas Hartpence, 3104 Sherwood Drive, Lawrence. George Hartpence and Aileen Myers were married on April 20, 1937, in Topeka. The couple request no gifts.
