The future groom is the son of Barbara Smiley, Hays, and the late Robert Smiley. Ashley is a 1999 graduate of Baldwin High School. She attended Johnson County Community College and the Lawrence Beauty Academy. She is manager and stylist at the Fix Salon. Shaun is a 1999 graduate of Norton Community High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Fort Hays State University. He is assistant vice president and loan officer at Northland National Bank, Gladstone, Mo. The couple plan a Nov. 11, 2006, wedding at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.

Harris

William and Virginia Harris, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at their home. They were married Oct. 24, 1946, at St. Patrick's Church in La Junta, Colo., and have lived in Lawrence since 1958. Bill was superintendent of the heating and air conditioning division at Huxtable & Associates. Virginia was a community volunteer. Their children are Terry Harris, Elizabeth, Colo.; Steve and Trina Burzinski, Parsons; Therese Seward, Overland Park; Tom and Toni Neilon, and Sgt. Michael and Trudi Aikins, all of Olathe; and Tom Harris and Earl and Tammie Reineman, all of Lawrence. They have 16 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Orr

Robert and Linda Traxler Orr, Linwood, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday. They previously celebrated with friends on a nine-day cruise in October in New England and Canada. They were married Nov. 5, 1966, in Perry. Robert worked as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970, and in Olathe until 1981. He has worked as a letter carrier for the Lawrence Post Office since 1984. Linda has operated a day care in their home for more than 30 years. The couple formerly lived in Eudora. They have three sons, David, Eudora, Steeven, Lecompton, and Michael, Linwood; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Paul W. Miller officiating. Leo retired from General Motors in 1987 after 31 years of employment, and Emily retired from the city of Lawrence in 1998 after 27 years as the executive secretary to the city manager. On June 11, 2006, the couple attended the archdiocesan golden wedding anniversary celebration at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Kansas City, Kan. More than 100 couples attended the Mass and reception. Each couple received a 50th anniversary certificate and a gold cross from Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann. Hosts of the dinner and reception will be their children, Gregory and Julie Dahlem, Eudora, and Gary Dahlem, Kansas City, Mo.
