Willard Eugene "Gene" Perry and Barbara Jean Winters Perry, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Friday at Timberline Steakhouse in Topeka. They were married May 26, 1956, in Lawrence with the late Rev. J. Paul Reid officiating. Willard was in the Army for two years, stationed at Fort Riley. He practiced chiropractic care for a few years in Yates Center. He worked 11 years for IBM and 20 years for Santa Fe Railroad. He received a degree for ministry training through the University of the South. He preached at several churches in Kansas for 35 years as an interim pastor with Bethel Community Church of Topeka being the last one of 17 years. Willard retired in December 1992 as general director of information systems at Santa Fe. He retired from the ministry in September 1998. Barbara is a homemaker. The couple's children are Jim and Linda Powell, Topeka; Mike and Carol Perry, Silver Lake; and Mark Perry, Wichita. They have six grandchildren.
