A.K. worked for FMC and Quaker Oats and farmed near Lecompton. Charlene worked for Perry-Lecompton schools, Aeroquip, Visiting Nurses Assn. and Rural Water District No. 6 and helped on the farm. Skip and Helen Harrell, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 1 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds in Lawrence. Family and friends are invited. Helen Elizabeth Herschell and Leslie Lee "Skip" Harrell were married Feb. 24, 1956, in Raton, N.M. Skip served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954, serving three years in England. He returned home and began a farming operation, which he retired from. Helen worked for the Kansas Union as a manager of the information counter and university postal service for 13 years. She retired Jan. 1, 1995. Skip and Helen have been lifelong residents of the Clinton and Lone Star communities. Hosts of the celebration will be their family. Their children are Twilla and David Brown, Baldwin; Cheryl and Mike Suitt, Lawrence; and Mike and Penny Harrell, Lawrence. They have six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild and three stepgreat-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.

Mike and Nancy Scott, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their son, Riley Scott, Lawrence, to Julia Wagle, Wichita, daughter of Tom and Susan Wagle, Wichita. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Andover High School and Kansas State University. She is studying medicine at Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences. The future groom is a graduate of Lawrence High School and K-State. He is working for U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback in Washington, D.C. The couple plan a June 30, 2006, wedding at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Andover.

Dennis and Zoe Ann Kennedy, Perry, and Dennis and Nancy Copp, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Raegan Ann Copp, Overland Park, to Tanner Lee Morton, Overland Park, son of Palmer and Deborah Morton, Topeka. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of William and Dorothy Medlen and Lowell and Virginia Copp, all of Lawrence. She is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She is a Realtor at Realty Executives of Kansas City. The future groom is the grandson of Duane Stites, Silverlake, and Virginia Morton, Columbus, Ga. He is a graduate of Topeka West High School and Johnson County Community College. He owns Premier Mortgage of Kansas City. The couple plan an Oct. 7, 2006, wedding at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.
