Ed and Marie Meyen, rural Douglas County, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception. Hosts were their children. They will join their children and their families for a reunion at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. They were married July 22, 1956, and have resided in rural Douglas County since 1973, when Ed became chairman and professor of special education in the School of Education at Kansas University. Their children are Brad and Kathleen Meyen, Eagle River, Alaska; Brett and Gina Meyen, Lexington, Ga., Joy and Jerry Smith, Sugarland, Texas; Blake and Robin Meyen, Wichita; and Janelle and Tim Bowler, Morristown, N.J. They have 11 grandchildren.
James and Elinor Erhart, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at their home. They were married July 20, 1956. Elinor Erhart owned and operated EM Janitorial Service for more than 25 years, serving businesses in the Topeka and Lawrence areas. James retired from Southwestern Bell in 1990 with 38 years of service. The reception was given by their daughters Cynthia Erhart, Little Rock, Ark., and Sandra Schone, Topeka. They also have two grandchildren.
