Ross-Hashman Hannah Colleen Ross and William Robert Hashman were married Aug. 18, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawnee. The bride is the daughter of Matthew and Maureen Ross, Linwood. The groom is the son of William Hashman, Bonner Springs, and Christi Hashman, Shawnee. They are graduates of Basehor-Linwood High School. The bride graduated in 2006, the groom in 2004. He is serving in the Air Force and is studying meteorology. The couple reside at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, S.C.

The bride is the daughter of Mike and Lisa Rietz, St. Louis. The groom is the son of Kim and Julie Whaley, Little Rock, Ark. The maid of honor was Katie Rietz. The best man was Jay Clark. He is employed at Handmark Inc. in Kansas City, Mo. The couple reside in Lawrence.
Roy and Gloria Pennel, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Nov. 4 at First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. Roy Pennel and Gloria Borgstadt were married Nov. 10, 1956, at The Concordia Baptist Church in Concordia, Mo. They lived in Windsor, Mo., for more than eight years. Roy took a job with Sears, and the couple moved to Mexico, Mo. Sears transferred him, and they moved to Lawrence in 1965. The Pennels owned and operated Pennel Electric for more than 30 years. They have two children, Annette Pennel and Mark Pennel, who helped in the business. Hosts of the reception were Mark and Ann Pennel. The Pennels have two grandchildren.
Ralph E. and Mary A. Reschke, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Dec. 30 at the Eldridge Hotel followed by a Mass of Thanksgiving at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. They also vacationed in San Francisco and nearby area in July. Ralph Reschke and Mary Ramsey were married Dec. 29, 1956, at St. Mary's Church in Dawson, Neb. Ralph graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview and studied engineering for three years at Kansas University. He was employed by Hallmark Cards Inc. in Lawrence for 40 years, working in machinery maintenance. He also worked overseas for Hallmark and retired in 2000. Mary graduated from Dawson High School in Dawson, Neb., and from Commercial Extension School of Commerce in Omaha, Neb. She was employed at Kansas University, the Lawrence school district and for 26 years at Hallmark Cards. She retired in 2005. Hosts of the reception will be their children and grandchildren. Their children are Ralph Reschke Jr., Arvada, Colo.; Christine and Joel Fritzel; Cindy and Gary Aldridge; and Tom and Trenda Reschke, all of Lawrence. They have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The couple attended the Archdiocesan Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebration Mass on June 11, 2006, at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Kansas City, Kan., with Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann officiating. More than 100 couples attended the Mass and reception.

He is employed as a multiple sclerosis research assistant at Kansas University Medical Center and will attend medical school in 2007. The couple plan an April 14, 2007, wedding at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.
