John and Martha Chandler, rural Douglas County, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday. They were married Sept. 11, 1965, in Kincaid. John attended Garnett High School, and Martha attended Kincaid High School. John has worked at the Kmart Distribution Center for 33 years. They have a son, Eric Chandler, Bend, Ore., and one grandson.

Richard and Mildred "Millie" Hogan, Donna, Texas, will celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary during a family reunion Sept. 17 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds in Lawrence. They were married Sept. 10, 1949, in Lawrence. Ben is a 1948 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School, and "Millie" is a 1950 graduate of LMHS. Ben retired from the U.S. Army in 1969. They were volunteers and gate attendants at the U.S. Corps of Engineers Campgrounds at Clinton Lake for 12 years. Their children are Virginia Conard, Lawrence, and Elizabeth Dix, Pueblo, Colo. They also have two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.
