Gary and Judy Lane, Tonganoxie, are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today. Gary Lane and Judy Hodges were married May 28, 1965, at Bible Baptist Church in Osage City with the Rev. William Hodges, the bride's father, officiating. They lived in Osage City until 1994. Gary worked as a brick layer for 40 years, and Judy was employed by Hallmark Cards for 19 years. They have lived in Tonganoxie for 11 years. The couple's children are Kristi Lane, Lawrence; Kevin Lane, Palm Springs, Calif.; and Michelle and Dave Fiedler, Burlington. They also have four grandchildren.



Lara Lea Kantack and Michael William Allen, both of Lawrence, were married June 12, 2004, at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Barb Clinger officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mark Kantack and Linda Klein, both of Sioux Falls, S.D. The groom is the son of William and Shirley Allen, Louisville, Ky. Maid of honor was Laura Cudzilo. Best man was Jeremy Mitchell-Koch. Bridesmaids were Patty Hamel, Katie Mitchell-Koch, Kelly O'Shea and Shawna Reinesch. Groomsmen were Brian Slaughter, Ryan Krisko, Ryan Bartlett and Taylor Bear. Ring bearer was Dillon Balthrop. Flower girl was Leah Wyzykowski. Candle lighters were Jay Unruh and Kelly Unruh. Readers were Cindy Balthrop and Laurel O'Shea. Guest book attendant was Carol Balthrop. A reception followed the ceremony at the Lawrence Holidome. The bride is a 2000 graduate of O'Gorman High School, Sioux Falls. She received a bachelor's degree in music therapy in 2004 from Kansas University. She is completing an internship in music therapy at the Central Wisconsin Center in Madison, Wis. The groom is a 1994 graduate of Christian Academy in Louisville. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1998 from Bellarmine College in Louisville and a doctorate in chemistry in 2004 from KU. He is employed with ThermoElectron Corp. in Madison. The couple reside in Madison.



Emily Jane Hutchins and Antonio Esparza, both of Lawrence, were married May 13, 2005, in Eureka Springs, Ark. The bride is the daughter of Joel and Becky Hutchins, Holton. She is a 1997 graduate of Holton High School. She received a bachelor's degree in 2001 from Kansas State University and a master's degree in 2003 from Kansas University. The groom is the son of Antonio and Angeles Esparza, Dodge City. He is a 1995 graduate of Dodge City High School. He received a bachelor's degree in 1999 and a master's degree in 2004, both from KU. They reside in Lawrence.



Bob and Shirley Gibler, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family barbecue. Bob Gibler and Shirley Fleshman were married May 28, 1955. Their children are Bob and Michelle Gibler, Lawrence; Jeff Gibler, Lawrence; and Jody Gibler, Lawrence. They have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.



Rodney and Cathy Gilges, Baldwin, announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina Marie Gilges, Martinez, Ga., to Kaj Anthony Willis, Augusta, Ga., son of Dick and Debbie Willis, Augusta. The future bride graduated from Baldwin High School and is a live-in nanny. The future groom graduated from West Side High School in Augusta and has an associate degree in business management from Kerr Business School, Augusta. He is a retail sales manager at Double B Plant Farm, Grovetown, Ga. The couple plan an April 29, 2006, wedding in Baldwin.



Alexandra Rosin and Martin Doudoroff were married March 26, 2005, at the home of the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Rosin and Mark Kenneally, in Kansas City, Mo., with Rabbi Joseph R. Rosenbloom officiating. A reception dinner followed at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. The bride is the daughter of the late Rosalie Lite Rosin and Robert Rosin, Red Bank, N.J. The groom is the son of Gay and Michael Doudoroff, Lawrence. The bride graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in art history. She is a third-year law student at Fordham University. The groom is a 1989 Lawrence High School graduate. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in film. He works as a developer of computer software for managing Web site content, and is a creator of and The couple reside in New York City.



Fred and Mary Plank, Baldwin, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 5 at the Masonic Temple in Baldwin. Friends and family are invited. Mary Mawson and Fred Plank were married June 6, 1945, in Olathe. They have lived in Baldwin for 60 years. Mary was an elementary and high school teacher in the Baldwin district for 33 years. She retired in 1987. Fred owned Baldwin Appliance until he sold it in 1977. He was then a rural mail carrier until retiring in 1993. Hosts of the reception are their children: Tom Plank, Baldwin, and Susan and Bob Case, Baldwin. The couple request no gifts.



Thomas and Betty Simpson, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 5 at the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church fellowship hall in Topeka. They were married June 4, 1955, in Phoenix. Tom retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1988 after 32 years of service in the plant department. Betty was a homemaker and had part-time clerical positions in Phoenix, Lawrence and Topeka. Their children are Cheryl and George Domme, Meriden; Kathleen and Dennis Leatherby, Fayetteville, Ark.; and Nancy and John Kennedy, Topeka. They also have seven grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.



Roger and Teresa Flory, Overbrook, will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary with their family Sunday. They were married May 23, 1975, at Lone Star Church of the Brethren. The couple owned and operated Commerce Plaza from 1980 to 2003. They manage Commerce Plaza BP. Their children are Timothy and Jana Flory, Lawrence; Brian and Julie Flory, Overbrook; and Mark Flory, Overbrook. They have one grandchild.



Sarah Wales and Dustin D. Browning, both of Lawrence, were married July 24, 2004, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Mick Mulvany officiating. The bride is the daughter of Timothy and Cathy Wales, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Jim and Patti Taylor, Lawrence. Maid of honor was Stacey Wales. Best man was Justin Shrack. Bridesmaids were Jenny Miller and Nikki Freeman. Groomsmen were Bob Jordan and Kris Kline. Flower girl was Ashley Hollinger. Ring bearer was Chase Taylor. Ushers were Evan Taylor and Kyle Freeman. A reception was given at the Ramada Inn Ballroom. The bride is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in 2002 from Kansas University. She is pursuing a pharmacy degree at the KU School of Pharmacy. She is employed at Wal-Mart Pharmacy. The groom is a 1999 Free State High School graduate. He is employed at Home Depot and is a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. The couple reside in Lawrence.



Harold and Peggy Lutz, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Hereford House and a camping trip in Oklahoma. Harold Lutz and Peggy Ryan were married May 10, 1945, in Lydon. Harold farmed southeast of Lawrence. He worked 16 years for Federal Crop Insurance. Peggy worked for Fultons restaurant and Deluxe cafe. Their children are Janice Roseberry, Connie Quinn, Beverly Campbell, Sandra Ratzloff, Jerry Lutz and Gayle Lutz. They have 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
