Dale and Barbara Brecheisen, Wellsville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday. They were married May 6, 1955. Their children are Dianna Brecheisen, Berryton; Dale Lynn Brecheisen, Van Wert, Iowa; and Jeff Brecheisen, Baldwin. They also have 6 grandchildren. Dale and Barbara graduated from Baldwin High School and have resided in the Baldwin community. They have been raising and training quarter horses and thoroughbreds for racing since Dale's retirement as a construction engineer.
Don and Mary LeAnda McDaniel, De Soto, recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Mary LeAnda Kramer and Don McDaniel were married May 4, 1940, in Ottawa. They have lived in De Soto since the 1950s. Don retired from Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in De Soto. Mary LeAnda retired from Intercollegiate Press in Merriam. They have three sons, Jerry McDaniel, Ronnie McDaniel and Mac McDaniel, all of De Soto; a daughter, Donna Sieber, De Soto; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Carroll and Doris Ottinger, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at 3 p.m. today at Drury Place at Alvamar, 1510 St. Andrews Drive. Carroll Ottinger and Doris Volkmann were married May 7, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wis. Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force, was a firefighter and worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition plant. He retired from working at a co-op after 28 years of service. Doris is a homemaker. They have two daughters, Linda Ottinger, Kansas City, and Janet Foster, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
Harvey and Hazel Rew, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 15 in Building 1 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St. Friends and family are invited to attend. They were married May 16, 1955, in Ottawa. They have lived in Lawrence since 1955. Harvey retired from Farmland Industries in 1991 after 37 years of service. Hazel retired from Hallmark Cards in 1994 after 25 years of service. The reception will be given by their children Dan and Teresa Rew and Janet and Steve Enyart, all of Lawrence. They also have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.
