He is a software engineer for TimesTen in Silicon Valley, Calif. The couple plan a February wedding in Belize and an April reception in Lawrence.

Dale and Barbara Brecheisen, Wellsville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday. They were married May 6, 1955. Their children are Dianna Brecheisen, Berryton; Dale Lynn Brecheisen, Van Wert, Iowa; and Jeff Brecheisen, Baldwin. They also have 6 grandchildren. Dale and Barbara graduated from Baldwin High School and have resided in the Baldwin community. They have been raising and training quarter horses and thoroughbreds for racing since Dale's retirement as a construction engineer.

Don and Mary LeAnda McDaniel, De Soto, recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Mary LeAnda Kramer and Don McDaniel were married May 4, 1940, in Ottawa. They have lived in De Soto since the 1950s. Don retired from Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in De Soto. Mary LeAnda retired from Intercollegiate Press in Merriam. They have three sons, Jerry McDaniel, Ronnie McDaniel and Mac McDaniel, all of De Soto; a daughter, Donna Sieber, De Soto; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Carroll and Doris Ottinger, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at 3 p.m. today at Drury Place at Alvamar, 1510 St. Andrews Drive. Carroll Ottinger and Doris Volkmann were married May 7, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wis. Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force, was a firefighter and worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition plant. He retired from working at a co-op after 28 years of service. Doris is a homemaker. They have two daughters, Linda Ottinger, Kansas City, and Janet Foster, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.

Harvey and Hazel Rew, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 15 in Building 1 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St. Friends and family are invited to attend. They were married May 16, 1955, in Ottawa. They have lived in Lawrence since 1955. Harvey retired from Farmland Industries in 1991 after 37 years of service. Hazel retired from Hallmark Cards in 1994 after 25 years of service. The reception will be given by their children Dan and Teresa Rew and Janet and Steve Enyart, all of Lawrence. They also have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.

Don and Shirley Engel, Pomona, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today. Shirley McCune and Donald Engel were married May 21, 1955, in Superior, Neb. They lived in Harvard, Neb., until 1976 when they moved to the Pomona area. Don retired from Farmland Industries in 1996 after 37 years of service. Shirley worked at Harvard State Bank, Harvard, Neb., for 12 years and retired from Douglas County Bank in 1993 after 17 years of service. The couple's children are: Jeanie and Don Engel Jr., Gibbon, Neb.; Jerry and Barb Engel, Pomona; Doug and Mary Engel, Joplin, Mo.; and Dennis and Brenda Engel, Kansas City, Mo. They also have nine grandchildren. Their children will play host to a family celebration in June.

Alexandra Rosin and Martin Doudoroff were married March 26, 2005, at the home of the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Rosin and Mark Kenneally, in Kansas City, Mo., with Rabbi Joseph R. Rosenbloom officiating. A reception dinner followed at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. The bride is the daughter of the late Rosalie Lite Rosin and Robert Rosin, Red Bank, N.J. The groom is the son of Gay and Michael Doudoroff, Lawrence. The bride graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in art history. She is a third-year law student at Fordham University. The groom is a 1989 Lawrence High School graduate. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in film. He works as a developer of computer software for managing Web site content, and is a creator of CocktailDB.com and FolioSpace.com. The couple reside in New York City.

Fred and Mary Plank, Baldwin, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 5 at the Masonic Temple in Baldwin. Friends and family are invited. Mary Mawson and Fred Plank were married June 6, 1945, in Olathe. They have lived in Baldwin for 60 years. Mary was an elementary and high school teacher in the Baldwin district for 33 years. She retired in 1987. Fred owned Baldwin Appliance until he sold it in 1977. He was then a rural mail carrier until retiring in 1993. Hosts of the reception are their children: Tom Plank, Baldwin, and Susan and Bob Case, Baldwin. The couple request no gifts.

Harold and Peggy Lutz, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Hereford House and a camping trip in Oklahoma. Harold Lutz and Peggy Ryan were married May 10, 1945, in Lydon. Harold farmed southeast of Lawrence. He worked 16 years for Federal Crop Insurance. Peggy worked for Fultons restaurant and Deluxe cafe. Their children are Janice Roseberry, Connie Quinn, Beverly Campbell, Sandra Ratzloff, Jerry Lutz and Gayle Lutz. They have 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.

Bob and Shirley Gibler, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family barbecue. Bob Gibler and Shirley Fleshman were married May 28, 1955. Their children are Bob and Michelle Gibler, Lawrence; Jeff Gibler, Lawrence; and Jody Gibler, Lawrence. They have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The groom is the son of Antonio and Angeles Esparza, Dodge City. He is a 1995 graduate of Dodge City High School. He received a bachelor's degree in 1999 and a master's degree in 2004, both from KU. They reside in Lawrence.
