Floyd and June Preston, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Friday with family at the Mono Inn on Mono Lake near Lee Vining, Calif. Floyd Preston and June Daus were married July 8, 1945. Floyd taught petroleum engineering at Kansas University for 36 years before retiring in 1991. Since then, the Prestons spend about eight months of the year traveling in the U.S. and Canada collecting butterflies for the McGuire Center for Entomology and Biodiversity in Gainesville, Fla., a unit of the University of Florida. Their children are Bruce and Linda Preston, Fort Collins, Colo.; Harold and Kathy Preston, Carrollton, Texas; Donald Preston and Bobby Chapman, Kenmore, Wash.; and Steven and Sonia Preston, Port Orchard, Wash. They also have two grandsons.

Robert was an electrician for several companies in the Lawrence area until 1958, when he started his career as a business agent for Local No. 226 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He became primary agent in 1963. He was promoted to international labor representative in 1969 and became president and co-founder of Electrical Corporation of America in 1971. He retired in 1986.
