Clifton G. and Shirley M. Bullock, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 12. They celebrated the occasion with their entire family in December on a Western Caribbean cruise. Shirley Mulch and Clif Bullock were married Feb. 12, 1955, in Reno, Nev., while Clif was in the U.S. Navy stationed in California. Shirley transferred from Topeka to California with Southwestern Bell. Both retired in 1995. Clif retired from the State of Kansas and Shirley retired from the Kansas Public Gas Co. in Lawrence. They have lived in Lawrence for 45 years. Clif was born and raised in Vermillion. Shirley is from the Narka area. The couple's children are: Debbie and Scott Shmalberg, Lawrence; Janel and Brian Torres, Perryton, Texas; and Scot and Becky Bullock, Overland Park. They have eight grandchildren.
Norman and Lora Lee Eberhart, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Norman Eberhart and Lora Lee Bass were married Feb. 13, 1955, in the Danforth Chapel on Kansas University's campus. Norman was a journeyman electrician, working out of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 226 for 43 years. During the last 24 years, he was employed by Huxtable and Associates of Lawrence. He retired in 1990. Lora Lee was a homemaker and worked for five years in a medical office. The couple have one daughter, Charlene Simmons, Leawood. They have two grandchildren.
Earl and Marion Shutt, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a Caribbean cruise with their children in January. They were married Feb. 12, 1955, in Eudora. Marion graduated from Eudora High School in 1950. She graduated from St. Lukes School of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo., in 1955. She worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in the maternity unit and then for obstetrician and gynecologist specialists in Lawrence until retirement in 1991. Felix graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. He attended Kansas University for three years. He worked in construction as a union carpenter until retiring in 1989. Their children are Tom Shutt, Edgerton; Linda Coleman, Eudora; and Cynthia Shutt-Brown, Lawrence. They have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.
Gary and Alice Malsbury, Oskaloosa, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception starting at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Winchester Community Building. Gary Dale Malsbury and Alice Marie Newell were married Feb. 13, 1965, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden. Gary retired in August 1998 as a communications technician from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Topeka. Alice is a homemaker. The couple's children are Gary Dale Malsbury Jr., Topeka; Jason and Dorothy Malsbury, Lawrence; Chris and Angelia Malsbury, Valley Falls; Craig Malsbury, Amy Malsbury, James and Aubrey Malsbury, Christine Malsbury and C.J. Malsbury, Oskaloosa. They have three grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.
Ronald and Carol Ann Salber, Lawrence, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Ron Salber and Carol Ann Kaufman were married Feb. 13, 1965, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Russell. Ron spent the majority of his career in the oil field industry but later worked for the Lawrence Paper Co. He retired in 2004. Carol Ann is an office administrator for Scott Temperature. The couple have two children, Ryan Salber and Kelly Rice, both of Lawrence, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Leo and Mona Langlois, Lawrence, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. A trip to Hawaii is planned for later this year. Leo Ronald Langlois and Ramona Kathryn Miller were married Feb. 19, 1955, in Frankfort. The couple lived in Topeka before moving to Lawrence in 1967. Leo retired from Kansas University in 1992. Mona is a homemaker. The couple's children are Steve and Kathy Schoenwandt, Lawrence, and Joleen Schaake, Colorado Springs, Colo. They have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Nancy and Len Howard, Lecompton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Perry American Legion. Friends and family are invited to attend. Hosts will be their family. Lenwood Howard and Nancy Morris were married Feb. 27, 1955, at Lecompton United Methodist Church. Len was employed by Dupont/Flexel for 37 years. Nancy has worked for the federal government. Their children are Greg and Carol Howard, Steve and Jerri Howard and David Howard, all of Lecompton. They had a daughter, Gail Lynn, who died in 1981. Loren and Marjorie Freeman, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 6 at the Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second St. Friends and family are invited. Loren Freeman and Marjorie Baldwin were married March 4, 1955, in Parsons. Loren served in the Army from 1955 to 1957, about 17 months in Germany. He worked for Manor Baking Co. from 1959 to 1965 and for Meyers Dairy from 1965 to 1970. Marjorie worked for Hallmark Cards in Parsons from 1953 to 1958. From 1969 to 1988, Loren and Marjorie owned and operated Freeman Used Furniture. In 1976, they began Freeman Auction Service which they operated until retiring in July 1998. They have resided in Lawrence since 1968. Reception hosts will be their children, Sheree and Doug Nairn, Lawrence, and Russell and Marla Freeman, Tulsa, Okla.; and their five grandchildren.
