They have lived in the Lawrence area since 1989 after living in many parts of the U.S. while either in the Air Force or under church appointment for the RLDS Community of Christ Church. Lyle and Anita Stemmerman, Kansas City, Mo., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception in Kansas City, Mo. They were married Aug. 24, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Harold Hamilton officiating. Lyle and Anita attended schools in Lawrence, including Kansas University. Lyle graduated from Colorado A&M with a degree in wildlife management. He worked in several U.S. Wildlife Refuges. He finished his career in the Kansas City area office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Anita returned to school at the age of 40 to become a nurse. After retiring, she has become a hospital volunteer. Last year, she was president of the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries. Their sons are Steve Stemmerman, Brian Stemmerman, Dave Stemmerman and Allen Stemmerman.
