Earnest and Ruby Bradshaw, Lawrence, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a trip to San Diego with family and friends. Earnest Bradshaw and Ruby Starke were married Aug. 23, 1949. They moved to Lawrence two years ago after Earnest retired from the military. Their children are Denise Bradshaw and Steve Nelson, Lawrence; Cheryl Bradshaw, Lansing; Ernest Bradshaw, Del Ray Beach, Fla.; Kenneth and Cynthia Bradshaw, San Ramon, Calif.; and Robert and Pamela Gruska, River Edge, N.J. They have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Marlin "Bud" and Julianne Pottorf, Oskaloosa, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Sept. 18 at Topeka Moose Lodge. Marlin Pottorf and Julianne Means were married Sept. 17, 1954. Marlin retired after 41 years with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Julianne, a registered nurse, retired after 21 years as administrator of Jefferson County Health Department. Their children are Saralee Garren; David and Robin Pottorf; and Shelley and Steve Cunningham, all of Oskaloosa. They have four grandchildren.
John and Marge Hummelgaard, Rogers, Ark., formerly of Tonganoxie, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on Friday. They were married Sept. 24, 1949, in Camden, Mo., by the Rev. Ben Aubry. Their children are Vicki Bowman, Grain Valley, Mo.; Cherry Mastro, Tonganoxie; Donna Kolojaco, Oskaloosa; and Kathy Gaul, March Air Force Base, Calif. They have nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pat and Ken Blair, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church. The reception will be given by their children Cindy and Nick Gentry, Lawrence; DeAnna and David Blair, Shawnee; and Carolyn and Mike Laskowski, Lawrence. They have six grandchildren. They were married Sept. 25, 1954, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Topeka. Ken retired in 1999 as an account manager after 43 years with Allen Press. Pat retired in 1988 after 20 years with Owens Flower Shop as a floral designer.
Glenn and Darlene Jones, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family cookout on Sept. 18 at their home. Glenn Jones and Darlene Kesinger were married Sept. 18, 1954, in Tonganoxie. Glenn owned and operated Lawrence Floor Covering. He has retired. Darlene worked at a gas company and Dr. Segebrecht's office. The couple have two sons, Gary Jones and Greg Jones, both of Lawrence. They have four grandchildren.
Jack and Barbara "Bobbi" Oglesby, rural Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Oct. 3 at the Perry American Legion. They were married Oct. 5, 1954, in Cedar City, Mo. Jack worked for LRM Industries in Lawrence and retired in 2001. Bobbi worked for Kansas Union Food Services and retired in 2000. Hosts of the reception will be their children, Jack and Lynette Oglesby, Emporia; Sandy and Fred Gantz, Lecompton, and Rick and Susan Oglesby, Ottawa.
